Marines with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Maritime Raid Force conducted another successful Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) exercise aboard USS Lewis B. Puller (T-ESB 3) and a merchant vessel during exercise Alligator Dagger 2017.

VBSS is the term used by military and law enforcement agencies for maritime boarding actions and tactics. VBSS teams are designed to capture enemy vessels, combat terrorism, piracy and smuggling, and to conduct customs, safety and other inspections.
