Natalia Aravena, 25, a nurse from Santiago, lost an eye after she was shot with a tear gas bomb shot off by a police officer during the civil unrest that began in the city this past October. Since being injured she’s acquired a prosthetic eye and now belongs to the group “Victimas de Trauma Ocular,” a group of over a hundred families and victims who suffered eye trauma due to the protests in Santiago this past fall.
This past Sunday was her first time protesting since she was injured. She joined the 8M organizers in the Women’s March in Santiago. Her likeness and name have become iconic in the protests that have reignited in Chile
