The Trump Administration’s hardline “Remain in Mexico” immigration mandate is having a deadly counter effect — not only for the 60,000 migrants stranded along the border but inside the U.S. as well. The policy has turned asylum-seekers into a marketable commodity for gangs and traffickers, who hold them ransom until their families in the U.S. pay for their release. Cuban American communities across the U.S. have been some of the hardest hit.
