A few video episodes of U.S. Navy Sailors utilizing the Mk 38 MOD 2 25mm MGS, including some footage with the Phalanx CIWS, during live fire training exercises against simulated enemy boats/targets while conducting routine operations at sea.
The purpose of the exercise is to maintain Sailors’ readiness and proficiency as well as checking the system’s reliability.
The Mk 38 MOD 2 is the newer version of the Mk 38, which is remotely operated and includes an Electronic Optical Sight, Laser Range-Finder, FLIR, and a more reliable feeding system, enhancing the system’s capabilities and accuracy.
