The Fake Jihadi | Investigators

Considered one of the UK’s ‘top 5 most dangerous jihadis’, Hassan Butt was the PR frontman for radical Islamic group al-Muharjiroun. He claimed to know Mohammad Sidique Khan who carried out the 7/7 London bombings, to have sent 200 British Muslims to fight in jihad and even said he was part of Al Qaeda.

In 2007 he shockingly announced he wanted to leave the network and renounce terror, and worked with investigative reporter Shiv Malik on a book and with filmmaker Masood Khan on a documentary. But there was a final twist to the story: it was all a lie, Butt was just a fantasist.

Using intimate interviews, documents and objects, ‘Investigators’ relives shocking and fearless crime stories through the eyes of those involved.
